Outdoor furniture products made of teak wood from Indonesia are in demand in the United States market.
This can at least be seen from the potential transaction results of one million US dollars for teak wood furniture and a trial order worth 324.48 thousand US dollars from seven importers in the superpower country.
Head of the Indonesian Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) Chicago Billy Anugrah through a press statement from the Ministry of Trade, received by Antara, in Jakarta, Thursday, explained that the results were achieved at the Casual Market 2018 exhibition which took place on 25-28 September 2018 at Merchandis Mart, Chicago, USA.
“The market share of outdoor furniture in the US is growing rapidly by six percent per year. Through this exhibition, it is hoped that the penetration of these products into the US will increase,” said Billy.
Casual Market is the largest outdoor furniture exhibition in the world attended by 90 companies and 250 exhibitors from various countries.
Indonesia’s participation is the result of cooperation between ITPC Chicago and the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) Chicago with two Indonesian export companies, namely PT Evoline Furniture Industry and PT Indoexim International.
The annual exhibition has been held for more than four decades. This year is the 6th year for Indonesia to participate in the event.
With the theme of Indonesian Furniture; Sustainability, Craftsmanship, Quality, he said, the Indonesian pavilion received a positive response and was visited by almost 100 potential buyers who were wholesalers and retailers.
“Teak wood furniture products are in great demand in the US market. During the exhibition, most US wholesalers or retailers collaborated with furniture manufacturers and craftsmen in Indonesia, especially those made of teak wood,” said Billy.
In addition, he said, there were three Indonesian companies that had representative offices in the US also participating in the exhibition independently.
“This exhibition is our effort to increase Indonesian exports to the US,” said Billy.
